Since the day I met Joanna and Dennis, I knew I was in for a magical experience! This romantic Breaux Vineyards wedding encompassed the genuine love of their new marriage while incorporating classic traditions and modern touches.
The couple met at a church retreat through mutual friends and spent five years exploring and growing together. On a road trip from San Diego to San Francisco, Dennis stopped at Pigeon Point Light House to make things official. This was a place the two had bonded over when Joanna had lived in San Francisco a few years prior. According to Dennis, that was the summer he knew he had to spend the rest of his life with Joanna. After the proposal, Joanna was beyond ecstatic, so much so that she may have forgotten to say “yes”!
Joanna and Dennis allowed me to capture an intimate engagement session at their favorite spot in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The shoot overlooked the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, and the couple was able to express their love in such a peaceful place.
Their early September wedding was held amongst the vineyards and mountain tops of Purcellville, Virginia. Every detail of the day was strategically planned to give each of the one hundred and twenty guests a personalized experience. Since Joanna is an outstanding artist, the day’s decor was filled with her professional calligraphy, watercolor artwork, and handwritten notes to her guests. Lush floral arrangements defined the venue in their luxurious pinks and natural greens.
Guests began the day at Joanna and Dennis’ outdoor Christian wedding ceremony where close friends of the couple participated in the event. Following the ceremony, the couple held a traditional Chinese Tea ceremony with their parents. Joanna even sported her mother’s qipao that she wore on her wedding day! The reception was held afterwards in a clean and classic indoor space with captivating chandeliers. Transparent windows surrounded the area that allowed guests to gaze over the property. During the reception, Joanna and Dennis retreated to a private dance to soak in the moment of their new marriage. At this time, Joanna also surprised her father with a secluded first dance to a childhood lullaby he used to sing to her every night. This was truly an unforgettable moment of pause and reflection.
Joanna and Dennis’ Breaux Vineyards wedding was not only a presentation of gratitude for their friends and family, but a sign of new beginnings, as the couple will soon be transitioning their lives to San Francisco. Although the day now seems like a distant memory, Joanna says it was “hands down…best day of my life.”
There are not enough words to describe this experience, as clients like these remind me why I chose to pursue photography. I cannot thank you enough, Joanna and Dennis, for blessing me to be a part of your wedding story. I wish you the best of luck in this next chapter of your life!
