This romantic Brookside Gardens Maryland wedding made for a timeless, intimate event for two hearts that were simply meant to be.
Rachel and I first met when she was a guest at a wedding that I photographed many years ago. We met again when she attended a photography workshop I hosted in 2016. What an honor to photograph a fellow photographer/friend’s wedding (Rachel Word Photography, y’all – check her out!). We first started our journey with Rachel and Richy after the two had a (perfectly!) unplanned proposal in early May 2017. To celebrate their new milestone, we headed to the Glenview Mansion for an outdoor fall engagement session.
The wedding day began when we met up with our bride as she was getting pampered. With her Maid of Honor/sister right by her side, Rachel spent the early afternoon finishing up last minute details and slipping into her gorgeous lace gown. She even had henna done on her feet in honor of her friends in Morocco, a place that is near and dear to her heart. Ready to lay eyes on her groom, our bride set out for Brookside Gardens for an intimate first look. The moment Richy turned to see Rachel was one I will never forget. The look in his eyes as he fell in love with Rachel all over again touched our hearts like no other! After spending a few moments together basking in the beauty of the day and the breathtaking scenery, it was time to head to the main event.
Prior to the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy light refreshments and take in the details of the venue. A petal-filled aisle, luscious greenery, and close friends and family surrounded the ceremonial space as the bride and groom made their way towards their forever. Many traditional and modern elements were incorporated into their ceremony, including a lovely song sang by Richy’s sister and words spoken by beloved family members. All in attendance shared in the precious love Rachel and Richy have blossomed over the years.
A cocktail hour and dinner reception followed on the property. Guests enjoyed a night of tasty foods, dancing, vintage lounge areas, yard games, and let’s not forget…donuts! The bride and groom wanted their big day to be an event for all to enjoy with a personalized touch, and with lots of careful planning, they did just that!
The newlyweds headed for Florida to continue their wedding story on a fun-filled honeymoon – they even stopped to see Mickey Mouse for a couple of days! Rachel and Richy are ready to simply do life together during their marriage and look forward to new adventures like moving into their first home and supporting one another through life’s biggest moments.
It’s hard to believe a year has come and gone just like that, but I know the two of you cherish every experience to the fullest! Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of such an incredible love story!
