Shadow Creek Wedding

This Shadow Creek wedding still takes my breath away. Watching this couple become one is why I am so blessed to be in this industry.

Shannon and Joe met at their home church and began their beautiful relationship in 2011. Over their five years of courtship, they discovered how incredible their connection really was and how life just wouldn’t be the same without the other. They frequently spent time trying delicious new foods, traveling, and watching their favorite sports teams together. To make things official, Joe put together a once-in-a-lifetime surprise proposal for Shannon in Paris in 2016 – what a dream! They commemorated this special moment with a Chesapeake Beach engagement session where we spent the day walking the shoreline and hanging with their adorable pup, Bailey.

Their wedding day began in the early morning as the girls and bride-to-be spent time being pampered and showering Shannon with love. The night before the big day, the bridesmaids presented her with the most thoughtful surprise – handwritten letters that were filled with memories and best wishes (one of her best friends is Joanna of Joanna Hope Art, a talented friendor and former bride of mine!). To finish off such an emotional, yet fun morning, the girls dressed in their elegant, shimmering gowns and surrounded the bride for a final prayer before she was off to meet her groom.

Guests were invited to an outdoor afternoon ceremony at Shadow Creek in Purcellville, Virginia. The venue was the perfect location to host Shannon and Joe’s vision of a rustic chic wedding, featuring a large barn building, old wine barrels, and an extraordinary landscape. Their traditional ceremony with a modern twist left all in attendance moved by the love they shared and created such an unforgettable moment.

After the ceremony, guests continued to a lively cocktail hour and dinner reception on the property. To say every detail of the decor was carefully planned out is an understatement! Shannon is the owner of peach & paperie and crafted all of the calligraphy and stationery for her wedding. This artist didn’t stop there – an incredible display of divine donuts, a white lantern shared amongst their friends at their own weddings, finely decorated table settings, and so much more! It was truly a girl’s dream wedding turned into reality.

The newlyweds spent the night celebrating with friends and family with dancing, speeches, and great eats. Ending with a sparkler send off, Shannon and Joe were on their way to the beginning of the rest of their amazing, married lives.

Shannon and Joe will be celebrating their new marriage with a honeymoon to Greece. The two are excited to be sharing a home together, becoming a strong team, and growing with one another over the years.

Working with this couple has been such a rewarding experience from start to finish. From Shannon’s outstanding art to learning so much of their story, these two have warmed my heart beyond measure. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding story!
