This indescribable Shenandoah Mountain engagement session was the ultimate celebration of a magical love story.
“Love at first sight is really the only way to explain it.”
Jenn and James met in 2016 on a snowy January day at a quaint restaurant in Reston, Virginia. The two bonded over a biscuits and gravy and eggs benedict brunch, but that day, they both instantly knew this was going to be something special. In fact, both say their first encounter defined the moment for their relationship. Jenn took to James’ patient and gentle heart and felt she had finally found someone she could be herself around. To her, James was the beautiful answer to her prayers. James held tightly to Jenn’s passionate soul, and loves her drive to care for others. Since the day they met, James has always wanted to know everything about her and continues to follow as she pursues her purpose.
In May 2017, James knew it was time to make Jenn his forever love. Jenn was a second grade teacher and adored her students particularly that year. With the ultimate goal of creating a memorable, unique experience, James set out to plan a surprise proposal with her students. He spent weeks preparing for the event. Each student would be given a letter to spell out “Jenn, will you marry me?” while he was on one knee. On the day of the proposal, James contracted the help of Jenn’s assistant to line up the students to receive their “gifts” from James. The children began to unwrap their presents, but as luck would have it, the second graders were confused (and a little disappointed) at what they had received! Although Jenn and James had to patiently wait while they finished unveiling her surprise, the emotion the two felt that day would last a lifetime.
After the proposal, James invited Jenn to a celebration dinner with her parents at Ted’s Bulletin, the restaurant they first met and fell in love. When they arrived, Jenn was shocked to see their friends from New York and Philadelphia had arrived and decorated the restaurant! The two spent the night celebrating their new, romantic adventure together.
Jenn and James captured the beginning of their journey with an engagement session at Shenandoah Mountain. There are truly no words to describe the tranquility, beauty, and views that surrounded them during this time. We ventured to multiple locations amongst the rocks as the two embraced their natural love. Jenn elegantly sported a flowing, blush gown paired with gorgeous fall florals. The deep mountain ranges and the golden sunlight made this outdoor shoot absolutely breathtaking.
The couple will host their November 2018 wedding in Leesburg, Virginia. They plan for the day to be a joyful, romantic, and totally fun day!
Jenn and James, I cannot thank you enough for having me be a part of your wedding story. There are not many times where I am left completely speechless after a session, so thank you for allowing me to capture your genuine love on camera. I look forward to seeing you again soon!
