Duyen and Charles’ wedding at The Woodlands at Algonkian was simply an unforgettable, timeless event.
“I realized how incredibly lucky I was to have someone who could care so much for me and I knew I wanted her by my side for the rest of my life.”
Duyen and Charles are your classic “I never knew it would be you” love story. It took a couple of high school years, a mutual group of friends, and an AIM chat to spark the interest of two people who never expected to fall in love. They spent the beginnings of their relationship talking for hours on the phone until their minutes and texts ran out. Charles even went to the extent of buying phone cards just to leave his sweetheart voicemails filled with compassion and hope! As their connection blossomed, Duyen and Charles discovered how much each had grown thanks to the care and kindness of the other.
On May 21, 2016, Charles made it official. After these coffee connoisseurs had their daily cup and their favorite Thai lunch, Charles asked Duyen to a stroll in a nearby park. The two stopped under a willow tree bearing photos of milestones in their relationship brightened by beautiful hanging lanterns. Duyen read heart-felt messages from Charles on the back of each photo, explaining his love for her. When she read the last note, Charles was positioned on one knee, waiting for Duyen to say yes to forever. Before she knew it, Duyen was greeted by their close friends and the snap of a polaroid picture to capture the next milestone of their journey.
I was honored to document their new engagement through a session in Washington, D.C. It was a spectacular day and incorporated all of the couple’s favorite things!
Duyen and Charles’ whimsical and elegant September wedding at The Woodlands at Algonkian showcased their playful, yet captivating personalities. Duyen was the creative behind the floral design for this wedding, and I am beyond impressed with her work. Every detail of this wedding encompassed Duyen’s vision and was executed to perfection. The blush pinks of the decor paired with the navy of the groomsmen’s suits were a stunning combination for a wedding theme. After the couple had their emotional first look, guests were invited to join them in an outdoor wedding ceremony under grand greenery and a wonderfully decorated trellis. The night continued with a fun-filled reception with games, dancing, and speeches from their wedding party. To top off the night, Duyen and Charles had a sparkler send off as they left their Hawaiian honeymoon. The newlyweds are excited to start building a family together while traveling the world.
It’s hard not to smile from ear to ear while reminiscing on this client experience! Duyen and Charles are a couple that will continue to prosper in their marriage through the overwhelming love they share. I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be a part of their wedding story!
